"I have always been proud that our members play such an active role in the governance of BIBA through our Advisory Boards and in our various committees."
- Graeme Trudgill, CEO of BIBA
Carl Evans, chair of the professional risks division for Griffiths & Armour, is stepping down as chair of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association’s (BIBA) Large Brokers’ Advisory Board (LBAB) and from its board.
“LBAB is one of BIBA’s most important advisory boards, and I’m delighted with the quality of those involved and the passionate debate we have been able to stimulate, which has ultimately led to positive results for members.
“Their ability to execute as a small but effective team has always impressed me. Graeme has injected boundless energy and enthusiasm, and has attracted some great talent to the board,” he said.
Alistair Fraser, international corporate and commercial leader at Marsh, will succeed Carl as chair of LBAB and join BIBA’s board.
Commenting on his appointment, Alistair expressed his delight in taking on the role and is “looking forward to working with my fellow board members to help BIBA advise all relevant stakeholders on the key insurance issues facing its members and their customers.
“The role of insurance brokers and the importance of the broking industry are critical in an ever-changing, complicated, and risk-oriented world. I can’t wait to get started.”
Phil Williams, group chief commercial officer & managing director of retail at Clear Group, will replace Alistair as deputy chair of the LBAB.
He said: “I’ve always admired the work BIBA does on behalf of insurance brokers (and their customers) and have found being actively involved thoroughly rewarding. I hope that I can fill Alistair’s shoes well, and I’ll certainly do my best to represent BIBA’s larger broker members.”
Graeme Trudgill, CEO of BIBA (pictured), added: “I have always been proud that our members play such an active role in the governance of BIBA through our Advisory Boards and in our various committees. Having such influential figures as Alistair and Phil join LBAB has been beneficial, and I’m sure they will continue to make a real difference in their new roles.
“Our structure limits the time that anyone can remain on our boards, and I’m always sorry to see brokers stepping down. Carl has given us five years of inspiration, dedication, and service, as well as helping us to navigate the Pandemic and its fallout. I’m delighted he will still be active on the ‘back benches’ of BIBA, sharing his knowledge and experience.”
