"With business purse-strings now tighter than ever, measuring the impact of supporting staff has never been more important to help HR departments retain their benefits budget and look after their people."
- Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for GRiD
Of those surveyed (500), almost half (47%) of the employers who measure the impact of supporting the health & wellbeing of staff on their business believe productivity has improved - 98% reported that it has positively impacted their business.
"Supporting the wellbeing of staff is a virtuous circle: staff are more likely to remain in the business and work more productively.
"This means that the business is financially successful but also seen to be having a positive impact in other areas, which attracts new clients and staff," explained Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for Group Risk Development (GRiD).
42% of employers said providing support demonstrates to staff that the business cares about them, whilst 41% agreed that supporting health & wellbeing holistically helps them manage staff absence.
Furthermore, 38% believe that they are more likely to financially succeed, and 37% stated that supporting the health & wellbeing of staff is integral to the company ethos. 33% have seen a financial impact or positive return on investment, and 32% believe it helps differentiate them from competitors.
GRiD urges employers who don’t currently measure the impact of supporting staff to do so, because 'supporting staff is, and always will be, good for business'.
"With business purse-strings now tighter than ever, measuring the impact of supporting staff has never been more important to help HR departments retain their benefits budget and look after their people," Katharine concluded.
