Dr Torsten Jeworrk is stepping down from the position of his own accord, after 32 years with the reinsurer– two decades of which were spent as a management board member.

His replacement, Dr Thomas Blunck also has experience with the Munich Re management board, having been a member since 2005. Blunck will chair not only the reinsurance committee but also the global underwriting and risk committee.

Additionally, fellow management board member Stefan Golling will take charge of capital partners. Golling has been with Munich Re since 2001 and has been a member of the management board since last year.

As well as Blunck and Golling, Munich Re has also gained Clarisse Kopff and Mari-Lizette Malherbe who are both set to join the management board. Kopff will join in December this year and Malherbe in January 2023.

Prior to this appointment, Kopff was the chief executive of Allianz Trade where she will stay in post until November this year. Meanwhile, London-based Malherbe has been with the reinsurer since 2007 and currently leads the life and health reinsurance business for Europe and Latin America.
