Conference on tenants contents insurance to be held at the House of Commons

Aon has today announced its partnership with insurer Aviva to hold an exclusive conference in light of the current cost of living crisis. The event is set to highlight the importance of tenants contents insurance (TCI).

The conference will take place on the 7th March, at the House of Commons, and will be a drop-in session featuring government officials, registered social landlords, and insurance professionals.

In a statement released by Aon, it was noted that the event has been organised in light of the current Cost of Living Crisis. The firm said that "insurance can play a crucial role" in protecting the most vulnerable memebers of society, so improvign the uptake of TCI will be "increasingly vital."

Aviva supported this statement, noting that 61% (2.5m) of renters in the UK with an annual household income of less that £17k have no contents insurance. The insurer also highlighted a report from the Finaical Inclusion Commission that said 64% of those without c0ntents insurance would either do without or would get into debt to replace stolen or damaged goods.

Commenting on the conference, Julie Page, Aon UK chief executive, has said:

"The majority of low-income tenants are without contents insurance which not only adds to their financial pressures, but it can adversely affect their emotional wellbeing.

"In an increasingly ambiguous and volatile world, the insurance industry has an important role to play in designing products and convening policymakers to address these problems and find a solution."
