"The Hey Girls ‘buy one, donate one’ business model allows us to extend our reach beyond our workplace, perfectly supporting our own mission to help more people."
- Liz Walker, chief operating officer at Unum UK
Founded in 2018, Hey Girls aims to revolutionise periods as the only social enterprise that donates 100% of its profits to funding the fight against period poverty and dignity across the UK. Hey Girls has already become the main provider of period products to the Scottish and Welsh government and has donated thousands via its UK wide community partner network who work on the frontline to support vulnerable people.
Through this partnership, Unum UK will be stocking free, sustainable products in all bathrooms to help reduce period poverty and the taboo that exists around menstruation. All products purchased from Hey Girls will be matched with a donation to community partners through the social enterprise, including foodbanks, women’s refuges, and homeless shelters to support those who need it most.
This partnership is part of Unum’s ongoing commitment to prioritise employees’ health and wellbeing.
Commenting on this partnership, Liz Walker, chief operating officer at Unum UK, has said:
“Unum UK is delighted to partner with Hey Girls and proud to support them with their mission to eradicate period poverty in the UK.
“Building the best possible place to work and supporting employee wellbeing in a sustainable way is one of our biggest priorities. We understand that improved access to high-quality period products and promoting positive conversations around period health is fundamental in maintaining an inclusive and diverse workplace.”
