Hundreds of member updates which provide information and guidance on key regulation and technical issues affecting brokers, will form part of a new library.

This allows members to keep up to date on the latest developments and search documents on key broker issues by date, category and key words.

The Find a Broker search currently receives around 30,000 hits per month and puts customers looking for insurance in touch with BIBA members.

It now has a prominent ‘quick search’ on the homepage and a more advanced search allowing both commercial and personal lines customers to search for brokers by location and type of insurance.

BIBA has integrated Google maps into the ‘Find a Broker’ search function and is working with a range of publications, charities and Government departments to help raise the profile of its ‘Find a Broker’ services.

Eric Galbraith, BIBA Chief Executive, said:

“Our new website has been designed to address two key areas - firstly keeping members up to speed on the changes to our sector, and secondly to help drive business to brokers and help customers to find adequate insurance.

"The next step following the launch is the new Iphone app for ‘Find a Broker’ so I would urge members to make sure that the details we hold for them are up to date.”

The website was designed for members with input from BIBA’s General Insurance Brokers’ Committee (GIBC) which is made up of 16 brokers.

Chairman of the committee Ian Dickinson, from Brunsdon LLP added:

“The website is a key resource for brokers providing lots of important information on regulation and technical issues and also providing new business leads direct to members.  A lot of time has been taken to design the website with members in mind and I’m sure that they will find it very beneficial.”

Other new initiatives on the website include real time tweets feeding directly onto the homepage, demonstrating BIBA’s activities, enhanced navigation and improved access to member services.
