"I’m looking forward to seeing the results of the next exciting things coming out of the IPTF and those sales continuing to grow."
- Andrew Wibberley, departing Co-Chair of the IPTF
This year, the Income Protection Taskforce (IPTF) has gone above and beyond to help educate advisers on the importance of Income Protection (IP) for their customers. Following a successful launch the year prior, the IPTF announced its second round of 7Advisers in March. These advisers have represented the taskforce at meetings, webinars, and as part of IPAW.
Shortly after 7Advisers was announced, the IPTF launched its podcast, ‘Let’s Talk IP’ hosted by Matthew Chapman. “We’ve wanted to launch a podcast for a while now and the time feels right to build on the momentum created by IPAW and expand the educational and informative content we’re producing for advisers,” explained Jo Miller, at the time.

Next up, the IPTF celebrated 7Families' tenth anniversary, releasing a 45-minute film that highlighted the lessons learned from 7Families and how advisers can integrate these stories into the advice process. To watch the film, follow the link here
Andrew Wibberley, Co-Chair of the IPTF, said “Although we’re celebrating the tenth anniversary of 7Families, the issues faced by those families still resonate today. 7Families was the first time our industry saw collaboration on such a scale and changed the way we work in many cases.”
Most recently, the taskforce ran Income Protection Action Week (IPAW) – rebranding from awareness to action – which was hugely successful amongst advisers and providers alike.
Today, the IPTF has announced its 2025 strategy, including organisation restructuring following Andrew’s departure as Co-Chair after four years in the role. Jo Miller has become Managing Director & Board Chair, whilst Vicky Churcher will take on Executive Director & Vice Chair of the IPTF.
Its strategy for next year will see the continuation of the IPTF’s established IPAW, 7Advisers & Let’s Talk IP podcast campaigns as well as new initiatives focused on supporting advisers and improving confidence in selling IP. Furthermore, it will be involved with Protection Reporter’s Inside Track, the gameshow designed to quiz participants on the past, present & future of the protection industry, which is in support of 7Families.

Alongside these commitments, Jo Miller told Protection Reporter that the IPTF will be exploring different parts of the market in terms of product offering & support services, and will also be looking to expand its collaborations to help support the industry.
Commenting on his departure, Andrew said “In the last four years the shift from people working on IP because they felt they ought to, to people suffering FOMO if they’re not involved has been great to see. Most importantly this is translating into more people protecting their incomes which is a fantastic thing.”
Reflecting on this strategy, Jo believes the market is heading in the right direction, “We have reached new audiences this year but we’re looking forward to taking this even further in 2025 with a mix of old favourites and ambitious new initiatives which will improve adviser education and help us work collaboratively across the industry to help us amplify our message.”
