"By listening, we can drive meaningful change and ensure Financial Services become a more inclusive and supportive space for everyone."
- Mark Harrington, CEO of L&C Mortgages
As part of an industry-wide project, the Pride in Finance Alliance (PIFA) has asked LGBTQ+ professionals and others working in Financial Services to share their perspectives on the UK mortgage market, identify areas for improvement, and help foster a greater understanding of inclusion across the sector.
The survey will run for six weeks, providing a unique platform for LGBTQ+ individuals to voice their opinions. Areas of interest include the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals at all levels, intermediary approaches to advising LGBTQ+ customers, and HR & management support for LGBTQ+ employees.
Responses will be published in February 2025, coinciding with LGBT+ History Month.
"Financial Services has made strides in recent years, but we know there’s still work to be done to ensure that everyone receives the support and opportunities they deserve. This survey is a vital first step in understanding the current landscape and identifying the barriers that remain for LGBTQ+ people & their allies," explained Amy Loddington, Project Lead at the PIFA.
William Lloyd-Hayward, Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Brightstar Financial and Managing Director at Sirius Group UK, highlighted that "One of our key commitments is to help understand where our sector is now, identify the key challenges we face, and work together to draw upon some of the best practices to drive the change we all want to see."
London & Country (L&C) Mortgages is one of the founding members of PIFA. "As a founding member, L&C Mortgages is proud to support this inaugural survey. It will provide a critical platform to better understand perceptions within our industry and to highlight where improvements are needed," said Mark Harrington, CEO of L&C Mortgages.
