"I look forward to working with the Council, with John and the strong executive team, and with the wider Lloyd’s market to guide Lloyd’s to even greater success in the future."
- Sir Charles Roxburgh KCB, incoming Chair of Lloyd’s
Over the years, Sir Charles Roxburgh KCB has worked as Director at McKinsey & Company – including work as the Lead Consultant working with the Lloyd’s Taskforce in 1992 – as well as an Associate at Arthur Andersen, and Director General for Financial Services at HM Treasury.
He currently serves as Non-Executive Chairman for Legal & General (L&G) America, Non-Executive Director (NED) at Shell, and Non-Executive Board Member at Herbert Smith Freehills.
Charles will succeed Bruce Carnegie-Brown as Chair, beginning the role in May 2025; his appointment was unanimous by the nominations committee. “It has been a huge privilege to serve the market as its Chair since 2017 and to play a part in driving forward many aspects of Lloyd’s progress including, most importantly, its financial performance,” he said.
“Under Bruce’s leadership, [Lloyd’s] has prospered and is in a strong competitive position, with robust financial security. The market is delivering valuable protection to its customers and healthy financial returns to members and investors. I’m delighted and honoured to have been selected as the next Chair of Lloyd’s,” added Charles.
