"There’s plenty of factors that determine if this is and isn’t possible for someone, but it does show a huge step in the insurance world that these options are now even a possibility."
- Kathryn Knowles, Managing Director, Cura Financial Services Ltd
I have a mini episode for you out this week, just a short one at 20 minutes, to talk through the changes that we have seen in insurance for people living with HIV.
I am talking about how we can potentially see standard rates for life insurance now, and we are now seeing options for critical illness cover and income protection on the standard market. There’s plenty of factors that determine if this is and isn’t possible for someone, but it does show a huge step in the insurance world that these options are now even a possibility.
There are some really key things to know as an adviser in terms of the questions to ask, the questions not to ask and some enhanced data protection steps that you should be taking if your client’s GP isn’t aware of their diagnosis.
The episode covers the main things that you need to know for personal, business and group protection insurance when you are advising a client living with HIV.

The next episode of the season will see Matt Rann back for his first episode of Season 7 and we are going to be talking about family medical history and how this can influence insurance terms.
