Unum appoint new Chief Information & Digital Officer amidst ambitious technology transformation

Today, Unum UK has announced the appointment of Lio Lopez-Welsch as Chief Information & Digital Officer, securing his seat on the Executive Committee.

Prior to this appointment, Lio Lopez-Welsch worked as Chief Information Officer at Aegon, where he's led IT for the last five years. In the past, he’s also served as IT Director & Technical Director at Investec Wealth & Investment UK, Consulting Senior Manager & Services Director at Accenture, and IT Development, Implementation & Service Delivery at the London Stock Exchange.

During his time at Aegon, he worked as a Non-Executive Director for TISA Exchange Limited, a not-for-profit organisation working with the industry to facilitate electronic transfers between firms that hold assets on behalf of investors.

In his new role, Lio will support Unum’s ambitious growth plans, reinforcing its market position as a high quality, specialist provider of key employee benefits & wellbeing solutions - he will also sit on Unum’s Executive Committee.
