US insurance firm aims to 'democratise cyber services and protection for UK businesses'

The US-based cyber insurance and security provider has entered the UK market with hopes to “democratise cyber services and protection for UK businesses and help brokers show their clients the real value of active insurance.”

Established in 2017, Coalition specialises in active insurance for small and mid-size organsiations, combining coverage with cybersecurity tools as well as digital forensics and incident response. Prior to entering the UK market, the cyber insurance and security provider expanded into Canada in 2020.

Currently, Coalition provides cover for over 160,000 customers in North America, offering active cyber insurance, active executive risks insurance, property and casualty insurance, and cybersecurity. In the UK, Coalition plans to initially offer cyber coverage, free active monitoring, and cyber response services through its broker channel, reports Insurance Business UK.

Tom Draper, newly appointed Coalition UK insurance head, has said: 

"We assess each risk on its merits and profile during that time, not just industry standards. This speed of service, combined with sophisticated cyber protection and comprehensive insurance protection, is a powerful offer to the UK market."

The UK branch commenced trading on the 1st September with a multi-year capacity agreement with Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality.
