Last year, Zurich UK paid 99.8% (3,482) of Life Insurance claims, equating to £220.2mn. It also paid £109.7mn (1,352) in Critical Illness (CI) claims, representing a payout rate of 90% with cancer, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular as the most common causes for claims.
Zurich UK paid £23.5mn in Terminal Illness claims, representing a payout rate of 90% (199).
95.8% (395) of Income Protection (IP) claims received a payout in 2024, equating £4.8mn. Mental health, neurological disorders/neurotrauma, and musculoskeletal-related claims were the most common.
Zurich UK paid £1.7mn in multi-fracture cover claims, representing a payout rate of 96% (404). Knee ligament tears, and lower leg/ankle fractures were the most causes of claims.
It also paid over 96% (75) of children’s cover claims, with cancer and cardiovascular as the most common causes for claims.
