In the past, he’s also worked as CEO UK Insurance and Global Life & Health at Aviva following a promotion from CEO UK of Life Insurance, Group CEO of Friends Life Group, and Chief Executive of General Insurance at Lloyds Banking Group, amongst others.
He will hold this new position for the next two years, succeeding Tim Bailey who’s been President since 2023. Ken Norgrove, CEO, UK & International at RSA Insurance will remain as Deputy President.
Furthermore, three new Board members have been appointed.

Alistair Hargreaves, CEO of UK Insurance at Admiral, replaces Cristina Nestares, whilst Chris Carroll, CEO of Bupa Insurance UK, replaces Alex Perry.
“Our world-leading industry has a significant role to play right now to support economic growth, protect customers, households, and businesses across the UK, and boost returns on their investments. Through the ABI, the industry is stronger together and I look forward to working even more closely with members and business leaders to achieve these goals,” he said.
Baroness Nicky Morgan, Chair of the ABI, added: “His extensive experience across the UK’s insurance and long-term savings sector is especially pertinent at this time as we work with the industry, government, and regulators to support the growth mission.
“We would like to thank Tim Bailey for his generous support for the ABI, both as our President and throughout his time on the Board. We wish him all the very best for his new role within Zurich Insurance.”
