The Struggle Service is designed to help advisers place their clients’ non-standard risks and has been developed in response to advisers’ feedback.

It will enable them to access specialist markets and insurers and provide competitive quotes for their clients without spending a disproportionate amount of time on cases, or having to refer business away.

Mark Hutchings Berkeley Alexander’s Sales and Marketing director explains:

“It’s surprising just how many cases don’t fit into the ‘vanilla’ terms offered by most providers.  We asked advisers what they really needed to help their business when it comes to GI and they told us that it’s the ability to turn problem cases into opportunities.

"So we’ve launched our Struggle Service which means that advisers don’t have to miss out just because a risk is slightly more complicated than the norm.”

The Struggle Service offers expert help for a wide range of non-standard cases including those with a claims history, property with subsidence problems, flood risk, non-standard construction or extensive outbuildings, as well as residential buildings with an element of business use.

High/mid net worth clients or those with high risk occupations as well as many more factors can also be catered for.

There is also the flexibility for advisers to chose whether to fully advise or introduce, in which case Berkeley Alexander will contact the client and assume all the regulatory workload as well.

Mark Hutchings continues:

“In the age of comparison sites, arguably the future of intermediated general insurance distribution lies in its ability to cater for non-standard risks.

"Our Struggle Service is designed to help advisers keep their place in that chain, and in doing so, further cement their relationships with clients.”
