Berkeley Alexander, General Insurance (GI) provider to the mortgage & intermediary market, has announced the addition of Ellie Salmon as a Commercial Account Handler whilst Oliver Platts joins its broker desk. The provider has said these appointments reaffirm its fresh approach to recruitment and commitment to building a robust talent pipeline.

Ellie joins from Green Insurance with five years of experience in delivering insurance and risk solutions across a range of commercial disciplines such as motor, legal expenses, property, and liability. She’s previously worked at Arthur J Gallagher & Hastings Direct where she handled large books of business and delivered superior client service to advisers and intermediaries.

Oliver Platts joins Berkeley Alexander from the recruitment industry where he was a Research Consultant at William Alexander, specialising in recruitment for insurance. During his time in this role, he built a network of high-profile insurance businesses and a comprehensive understanding of their complex needs.

“Attracting young talent into insurance careers has long been a challenge for the industry. We take a different approach here which continues to attract the best and brightest. Whilst we continue to recruit experienced staff from the insurance industry, we also recognise and tap into a wider range of knowledge, skills, and expertise from outside the sector,” explained Geoff Hall, Chairman of Berkeley Alexander.

“Add this to our apprenticeship scheme and delivery of growth & learning opportunities, and we’re clearly taking a holistic approach to recruitment, helping shape rewarding careers in insurance and building the next generation of leaders,” he concluded.
