Bernhard Kaufmann to join Swiss Re as Group Chief Risk Officer

Today, Swiss Re has announced the appointment of Bernhard Kaufmann as Chief Risk Officer (CRO), succeeding Patrick Raaflaub as of the 1st October 2025.

Bernhard Kaufmann currently serves as Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Helvetia Insurance Group. In the past, he’s also worked as Group CRO at NN Group, Group CRO at Munich Re, and CRO at ERGO Versicherungsgruppe AG, amongst others. 

In his next role, Bernhard will succeed Patrick Raaflaub as Swiss Re’s Group CRO as of the 1st October 2025.
