"On behalf of the board, I want to thank Richard for his outstanding leadership and warmly welcome Chris as he takes the campaign into its next exciting phase."
- Chris Wallace, founding member & ex-chair of IUAD
Chris Lay currently serves as CEO of Marsh McLennan UK. Alongside this role, he’s a member of the leadership council at TheCityUK, and a member of the president’s committee at the Confederation of British Industry.
His appointment as campaign chair of Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) marks the beginning of an “ambitious second phase” following the achievement of its initial £10mn fundraising target.
Chris succeeds Richard Dudley, who has led IUAD for almost four years. He said it’s been an honour to chair such a passionate and committed board; “IUAD is a wonderful example of how the insurance industry can come together to drive real change for people living with dementia – both now and in the future.”
As chair of IUAD, Chris will work with the team on strategic fundraising and awareness initiatives to accelerate progress towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
“When I was asked to take on this role, I felt a deep sense of pride, having seen firsthand what the campaign has already achieved across the industry. We’re at a truly pivotal moment, not just for IUAD, but for the wider dementia landscape.
“Now is the time for our industry to double down, building on this momentum and continuing to drive meaningful change for the nearly 1mn people living with dementia in the UK. I’m excited and honoured to be part of the IUAD mission,” he said.
Chris Wallace, founding member & ex-chair of IUAD, added: “This is a big moment for the IUAD campaign. The industry isn’t prepared to stop now, having reached our initial milestone. Dementia remains the UK’s biggest killer, and until it becomes a condition people can live well with, not die from, we’ll continue to unite across the industry.
“On behalf of the board, I want to thank Richard for his outstanding leadership and warmly welcome Chris as he takes the campaign into its next exciting phase. I look forward to seeing his vision come to life.”
