The collaboration aims to strengthen the programme’s long-term impact and ensure the development of future leaders across the insurance and financial planning professions.

The New Generation Programme, launched over a decade ago, supports emerging talent in insurance and financial planning by having participants and their mentors tackle real challenges and present their work to senior practitioners. With the sector undergoing ongoing digital, regulatory and societal change, the CII says it wants to ensure the programme continues to equip early-career professionals with the skills needed for future leadership.

Through the partnership, the CII and EDII plan to strengthen the strategic impact and quality of project work, improve participants’ innovation and leadership skills, provide structured support to ensure project outcomes remain valuable after the programme ends and increase the visibility of New Generation initiatives among the profession, employers, regulators and wider stakeholders.

EDII will deliver sector-specific innovation training and facilitation, including high-impact sessions designed to help participants develop insights, shape project ideas and build their ability to lead change across the profession.

Adam Harper, director of strategy, advocacy and professional standards at the CII, said: "This partnership represents an important milestone for the New Generation Programme. By bringing EDII’s innovation expertise into the experience, we are enhancing our investment in rising talent and giving participants (and their mentors) the support they need to deliver projects with lasting value. The programme has always been about empowering professionals to push boundaries and shape meaningful change, and this collaboration ensures their work continues to have a long term, visible impact across the sector."

Caroline Bedford, chief executive officer at EDII, said: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with the CII on such an influential programme. The New Generation cohorts bring enormous passion and potential, and with the right tools and frameworks, their ideas can translate into powerful, long term outcomes for the sector.”
