Direct Line launches new premium insurance

Direct Line today announces the launch of Direct Line Select Insurance.

The products are specifically designed for consumers who need higher levels of cover than standard insurance policies typically provide.

The products give customers enhanced levels of cover and greater levels of customer service. Customers can choose one product only or a portfolio of covers, including home, car, pet, travel and breakdown insurance. All under one Select policy with one annual renewal date.

Stuart Ballantyne, head of Select from Direct Line, said:

"We are building on the success of the Direct Line brand and offering consumers tailor-made insurance. Customers have told us they want greater peace of mind with enhanced levels of cover and the convenience of one renewal date.

"We are offering customers the service of our group of specialist providers who can repair and replace standard household items such as televisions and audio equipment, but also source or have made bespoke sentimental items of jewellery.

"For example, if a customer had a pair of hand made earrings stolen, they would either be offered cash, help in finding a replacement or have a set made if they were no longer available."                                                         

Customers will benefit from the convenience of one annual renewal date and one payment date, and can be confident that all products have a 5* Defaqto rating.

For home insurance for example, Select from Direct Line offers customers contents cover from £75,000 to ensure belongings are sufficiently insured, and has accidental damage and worldwide contents cover as standard - providing complete peace of mind.

Customers can purchase our products by speaking to one of the Select from Direct Line team of Customer Advisors based at The Headrow in Leeds. The Customer Advisors are qualified to give advice over the phone, to ensure that customers have adequate cover in place for their individual needs and circumstances.

Select from Direct Line includes the following features:

- Access to specialists - our Appraisers will offer to visit customers with £175,000+ of contents to insure, to give risk management and valuation guidance and help them protect their home and contents

- 150 per cent of contents cover in the event of making a claim - customers still covered if the value of their contents increases

- Not a typical call centre - instead access to a dedicated team of insurance specialists, all professionally qualified through the Chartered Institute of Insurance, to provide customers with a high quality level of service

- Multi-skilled client advisers provide a single sales and service contact point, and a fast and simple claims process, with named, dedicated claims handlers

- Specialist third party suppliers - chosen because of their experience in dealing with mid and high net worth customers
