"Following the successful launch of the ex-smoker feature on our Term & Critical Illness (CI) comparison service, we're delighted to extend this to Income Protection (IP)."
- Jacqueline Durbin, Global Head of Product (Life, Pensions & Mortgages) at Iress
Today, Iress added questions for ex-smokers looking to compare Income Protection (IP) policies on its sourcing platform, The Exchange. This feature is supported by Aviva, Zurich Insurance, Royal London, and National Friendly.
Iress believes these questions provide improved clarity and price certainty for advisers during the quoting process for IP.
“Following the successful launch of the ex-smoker feature on our term and critical illness comparison service, we are delighted to extend this to income protection. Iress remains committed to price and product transparency, helping advisers set accurate expectations to customers upfront," explained Jacqueline Durbin, Global Head of Product (Life, Pensions & Mortgages) at Iress.
She said: “Alongside price transparency, the comparison supports our move away from price alone, with greater clarity around product features further enabling personalised protection conversations with customers.”
Vicky Churcher, Co-Chair of the Income Protection Taskforce (IPTF), added: “Getting the smoker rate right at the first opportunity is vital for both identifying appropriate insurers and managing customer expectations. It's good to see this innovation enabling that to happen more simply today, and in the inevitably complex future."
