"Having worked in the insurance industry for many years, I know first hand that it’s vital now more than ever for the industry to evolve and meet customer needs."

Homelyfe is a new technology service startup aimed at making buying and managing insurance easier for consumers.

Peter will lead the board of directors and will be responsible for overseeing strategy, regulatory oversight and governance at Homelyfe.

Prior to Homelyfe, Peter served as Managing Director at GE Capital, Bradford & Bingley and most recently, Genworth Financial. At Genworth Financial, Peter was responsible for the firm’s lifestyle protection division, where he managed the European business in 15 countries and led its expansion to Latin America and Asia Pacific. Genworth’s lifestyle protection insurance business was sold to AXA Insurance in 2015 for £335m.

Peter was also previously the Managing Director at John Charcol, where his focus was to grow the business through a multi channel strategy, consisting of a national branch network, telephone centre and online platform.

In his role at Homelyfe, Peter will support the team in developing its business strategy, performance and risk management and regulatory oversight and governance.

Peter Goodman, Founder and CEO of Homelyfe, said: "Peter is an accomplished and distinguished leader, with excellent experience in embracing innovation and managing complex, large-scale global financial services organisations. His wealth of experience in the insurance industry, combined with his expertise in delivering business growth will add huge value as we grow Homelyfe.”

Peter Barrett commented: “Having worked in the insurance industry for many years, I know first hand that it’s vital now more than ever for the industry to evolve and meet customer needs. As an industry ripe for change, I believe my experience, combined with Peter Goodman’s and Andrew Craven’s ability to launch and build technology companies will marry well to create a business that will not only improve and make consumers’ day to day home life easier, but give them peace of mind too.

“Above all, I am looking forward to embarking on this journey with Homelyfe and to be working with a dynamic and energised team that has one set goal: to make customer-centricity the focus of insurance.”
