This sobering statistic illustrates that many businesses are leaving themselves exposed to huge risk as key personnel, business owners and important individuals, on who they so often critically depend, may be left without the valuable protection they may need.

Legal & General are the number one protection provider based on new individual protection sales in 2009 and have been for the past 5 years.

Legal & General are established experts in this market and since 2009 have been working to educate and inform over 10,000 advisers to understand the potential and opportunity to help their clients protect their most valuable assets; their people.

To continue their commitment in this market Legal & General have recently made some enhancements to their Business Protection proposition:

- A dedicated Specialist Protection team, which provides technical expertise on products as well as marketing, training, tax and trusts, underwriting and sales support.

- A brand new suite of literature, which includes a range of sales support literature and trust and technical material.

- A new and improved website, full of useful tools to help advisers write Business Protection cover.

- An online quote and apply system that now offers multi product discounts.

- A Priority Protection Promise for higher sums assured which includes a ‘Price Beater’† offer that guarantees to beat a competitor’s premium.

Ken Binnie Managing Director, Ken Binnie Financial said:

“The support provided by Legal & General is second to none. I would recommend their specialist team as an asset to any IFA practice and look forward to developing our relationship in the future.”

Clare Harrop, Head of Specialist Protection at Legal & General said:

“I continue to be amazed at how many businesses are not fully prepared to handle the event of the death or critical illness of a key person or business owner. This is a great opportunity for financial advisers to develop their own business and talk to corporate clients, new and existing to ensure they have the protection in place that could ultimately save their business, should the worst happen.

"Legal & General’s Business Protection proposition will help advisers to close this gap.”
