"Along with all the recent enhancements to our Be Well. Get Better. Be Supported. wellbeing framework, this latest addition complements the financial support at the core of our insurance product"
The three new support services have been added to Legal & General’s Be Well. Get Better. Be Supported. wellbeing framework, for all existing and new Group Income Protection customers at no extra cost, completing a series of enhancements to the firm’s GIP product, with employee wellbeing as the driver of these changes.
Recent announcements from Legal & General include the addition of a neurodiversity pathway, bringing specialist support to neurodiverse employees who are long-term absent due to mental health issues; and a range of on-demand services added to their GIP Virtual Clinic, for clients and their immediate families, including online physiotherapy, long-term general health and wellbeing tools and resources, and a new partnership with Spectrum.Life, which evolves the Employee Assistance Programme concept and complements it with a range of wellbeing services focused on ‘whole person’ support.
Medigo’s services, which have been in place as part of Legal & General’s Critical Illness Cover since 2020, now bring to GIP customers and their families:
· Second medical opinion. Access to a global network of medical specialists. The specialist will offer second opinions on diagnoses and treatments for almost any condition, allowing individuals to understand the potential impact of their condition and evaluate the most appropriate clinical pathway for their needs.
· Medical concierge. This is a global treatment-sourcing solution that provides individuals with up to three treatment plans and quotes to choose from. Treatment, travel, accommodation and aftercare are coordinated by Medigo. The service allows the individual to choose a course of support to meet their needs and budget whilst allowing them to focus on their specific treatment and medical requirements, whilst the Case Manager at Medigo does the rest.
· Nurse support service. This virtual service provides practical, emotional support to employees if they receive a referral from a GP to a clinical specialist. The fully qualified nurses registered and regulated with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMS), provide ongoing care with every step of the way during the illness.
James Walker, Head of Product and Proposition, Legal & General Group Protection, said:
“When illness strikes, the emotional uncertainty can have a profound impact. Practical and emotional support needs can easily become overlooked, unnecessarily impeding recovery through undue worry.
“Along with all the recent enhancements to our Be Well. Get Better. Be Supported. wellbeing framework, this latest addition complements the financial support at the core of our insurance product. Taken together, the goal is to empower individuals to make informed decisions and ensure they receive the most suitable whole person (physical, emotional, financial and social) support; ultimately, providing invaluable peace of mind and improving outcomes.”
