"We are extremely grateful to Ciaran [Barr] for his work over the last four years and thank him for his commitment and input which have made a lasting valuable contribution to the committee."
- Anna Bradley, independent chair of the Scottish Widows IGC
Set to replace Ciaran Barr, who has stepped down after four years of service, the experienced pensions professional and market-leading climate change strategist is the newest member of the IGC.
Prior to this appointment, Mark Thompson spent almost a decade with the HSBC UK Pension Scheme as chief investment officer where he designed and implemented its long-term DB de-risking strategy as well as revolutionary climate change strategies for its DC scheme.
Commenting on his appointment, Mark Thompson said that he’s “looking forward to working with the IGC,” and hopes his experiences will lead to “good outcomes and value for money for their pension savings.”
Anna Bradley, independent chair of the Scottish Widows IGC, added:
“Mark has extensive expertise in the pensions and investments sector – particularly in environmental strategies – and we are excited about the insight and experience he will bring to the IGC to help us continue to deliver for our members.”
