The product is available from today (6th January 2026), and will be distributed exclusively through brokers. It is aimed at employers seeking life cover for employees, providing a lump sum benefit to families in the event of death.

As part of the launch, MetLife is also introducing its 360Health support services to Ireland. The services include virtual GP access and wellbeing support for employees and their families. A Master Trust structure is available to employers, allowing benefits to be administered centrally.

MetLife said the group life proposition is designed to support both employers and employees, with the Master Trust intended to simplify benefit management.

The insurer operates in more than 40 markets globally. It said that in comparable markets claims are typically settled in under three days, although no specific Irish claims data has yet been provided.

MetLife already has an established presence in Ireland, employing almost 200 staff across its European head office in Dublin and a campus in Galway. The launch of group life cover represents an expansion of its Irish operations into employee benefits.

Wayne Gibbons, Ireland country lead at MetLife, said: "Group life is about more than a payout. It’s about giving employees peace of mind, helping families through the hardest moments and giving employers confidence that their people are supported. Our goal is to deliver the highest standards of service to Irish employers and employees, combining strong local knowledge with international expertise, while raising the bar on what workplace benefits can offer in Ireland."
