"At a time when people need to rest and recover, added financial stress can hinder and lengthen the recovery time."
- Dominic Grinstead, CEO of MetLife UK
In 2024, MetLife UK approved and paid 27,112 claims, averaging 108 accident & health claims per day to its individual protection customers. That equates to over £27mn (£27,058,980.32) in claims over twelve months.
According to MetLife’s analysis, more than 15k (15,337) hospitalisation claims were paid, alongside 9,664 broken bone claims. 702 lifestyle claims were approved, and 711 funeral benefit claims from non-accidental death.
“Supporting our customers and offering that much-needed financial lifeline when times are tough is our number one priority. No one wants to think about having an accident or illness, but we want to make sure that if it does happen, we minimise any issues our customers face,” explained Dominic Grinstead, CEO of MetLife UK.
He said: “At a time when people need to rest and recover, added financial stress can hinder and lengthen the recovery time. That’s why we ensure claims are paid as quickly as possible. This has and continues to be, key to our offering and the service we strive to provide.
“Our claims philosophy is built on trust, that one day (when you need it) we will deliver what you expect from us – to pay your claim in a timely manner, with no fuss and with an understanding of what has happened to you,” Dominic concluded.
