Following the departure of Andrew Murphy, having taken the opportunity to move to the recently formed capital solutions line of business, Pacific Life Re has announced the appointment of Sarah Cheng as managing director for protection in Europe & North America.
She will report to Andrew Gill, executive vice president for protection at Pacific Life Re.
Mala Thurston (pictured) has been promoted from vice president for client solutions to head of protection in Europe to support this transition. She will be responsible for the protection business written in Europe and will have reporting lines from various teams in that region.

UnderwriteMe, part of Pacific Life Re, has also announced the appointment of Tom Frenzel as manager, business development in the UK & Ireland, to cultivate new partnerships and boost market presence.

Brett Laker, who previously served as head of North America at UnderwriteMe, has transitioned to the role of vice president of client solutions at Pacific Life Re.
As a result, Scott Hunt has been appointed as director, business development in North America to accelerate the adoption of digital transformation initiatives.
Tom and Scott will report to Paul Hughes, chief revenue & customer officer at UnderwriteMe.
