Prior to this appointment, Rachel Wood served as Head of Group Pricing at AIG Life where she led repricing, scheme underwriting philosophy changes, large scheme quotations, model and tool development, and business analysis. Whilst at AIG Life, she also worked as Assistant Director of Risk, Head of Value Management & Research, Deputy Chief Actuary, Head of Reinsurance, and Chief Pricing Actuary.
Rachel has also worked as a Senior Pricing & Product Development Actuary at Munich Re, Interim Head of Actuarial at Ellipse, and Actuarial Analyst (Pricing & Product Development) at LV.
With almost twenty years of experience in Financial Services, Rachel has expertise in annuities, General Insurance (GI), individual protection, group risk, and more.
In her new role, she will deliver market-leading propositions and take advantage of new data opportunities.
Rachel replaces Barry Butler who stepped down as Head of Product, Underwriting & Sustainability in March 2024 – but has remained with the provider as a Non-Executive Director (NED). Barry joined MetLife in 2015, moving from Zurich Insurance where he spent the first twenty-seven years of his career.
