Launched last year for all existing and new Group Income Protection customers, Virtual Clinic provides employees everything from round-the-clock access to GPs to mental health support and counselling, as well as a service for family members and can help support the management of day-to-day wellbeing.
Legal & General Group Protection has announced that as part of its plans to continually evolve its support framework, new services have now been added and will complement existing support already in place.
The new, on-demand services include online physiotherapy from Teladoc Health; long-term general health and wellbeing tools and resources from HCI Digital; and a brand new digital health and wellbeing platform and app through Legal & General’s new Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), provided by Spectrum.Life.
Online physiotherapy service, through the Health365 app and portal from Teladoc Health, which also hosts Legal & General’s virtual GP and mental health services. This service provides quick and easy access to a highly qualified physiotherapist through a video link, or over the phone if preferred, without the need for a referral from a GP. After a detailed assessment and diagnosis, a treatment plan is designed, with links to appropriate exercise videos and further follow-up sessions depending on clinical need.
General health and wellbeing tools and resources were added to the CONNECTPlus app from HCI Digital. This new feature sits alongside existing self-management support for a number of long-term health conditions. A wealth of interactive content includes topics such as attending hospital, women’s health, men’s health, healthy lifestyles and carer support. More than one in four of the adult population in England lives with two or more conditions and these people are more likely to have poorer general health and poorer quality of life than those in the general population.
Digital health and wellbeing platform and app, from Spectrum.Life. Legal & General recently announced the launch of Spectrum.Life as its Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider for a range of support and wellbeing services as standard across all its group risk products. Group Income Protection’s Virtual Clinic, incorporates live and on-demand fitness classes, self-guided mindfulness and meditation, nutritional wellbeing pathways, mental health eLearning, plus money-saving tips, guidance, rewards and online shopping discounts.
James Walker, Head of Product and Proposition, Legal & General Group Protection, said: “Virtual Clinic, as part of our framework Be Well. Get Better. Be Supported. is about reimagining the nature of wellbeing support via Group Income Protection, ensuring it’s not only simplified, joined-up and scalable – bringing more essential support to more people – but also person-centred, acknowledging that wellbeing is subjective, multi-faceted and rests on ensuring people are suitably equipped and engaged.
“All of this is underpinned, as part of the framework, by HR communication support via our Be Well hub, helping improve usage and value; from basic hints and tips on communicating benefits to more strategic wellbeing communication aligned with overriding business goals. It’s also underpinned by access to a valuable analytical tool – in the shape of our exclusive partnership with Fruitful Insights – to help intermediaries support many of their clients to quantify their wellbeing performance, prioritise investment and enhance effectiveness. In short, a breadth of facilities intermediaries and clients need, in one place.”
