"It’s great to have CIExpert’s analysis of our proposition which brings to life the quality, flexibility, and inclusivity of our plans."
- Scott Cadger, Head of Underwriting & Claims Strategy at Scottish Widows

Last month, AIG Life was added to CIExpert’s newly established Income Protection (IP) Insight Zone following the re-vamp of its ‘YourLife’ proposition. At the time, Neil Davies, Chief Operating Officer at AIG Life, said, “we want to help customers take action for the future […] make it easier for financial advisers to help people return to a life they can enjoy.”

Now, Scottish Widows has become the ninth insurer to join CIExpert’s Life & Critical Illness (CI) Insight Zones which now highlight the availability of annual statements as a key policy feature. This functionality was inspired by findings from CIExpert’s ‘Critical Thinking’ Report – 63% of advisers ranked the availability of annual statements as 4/5, with 5 being the highest level of importance.

Scottish Widows already provides annual statements, so alongside this, the insurer’s Price Lock Promise, Health Lock Guarantee, and Advanced Surgery Benefit have been highlighted on CIExpert’s Insight Zones.

Paul Roberts, Propositions & Distribution Director at CIExpert, is delighted to welcome another major insurer to its Life & CI Insight Zones. “The interactive tools and insights available will help both those advisers who are new to protection as well as those who are more experienced, helping to break down the complexities that can exist to make an adviser’s protection journey more seamless and streamlined,” he explained.

For example, CIExpert’s CI Condition Tracer Tool will allow advisers to visually compare Scottish Widows’ “inclusive and simpler-to-explain approach to condition coverage” against all plans available within the platform.

“We’ve worked closely with Scottish Widows to include them but also make the Insight Zones accessible and promote their own sales support tools from within the same single, centralised protection hub and we look forward to developing these with them in the future too,” Paul added.

Scott Cadger, Head of Underwriting & Claims Strategy at Scottish Widows, agreed that with the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Consumer Duty requirements at the heart of advisers’ agendas, “having access to CIExpert’s Insight Zones will help them to understand customer journeys and provide better overall outcomes.”
