Alison has experience across a wide range of sectors, including financial services, healthcare and charities. Her track record demonstrates a flair for business transformation and she was a finalist for Board Director of the Year in the UK Women in IT Awards 2021.

Alison said: “I’m delighted to join the board at Shepherds Friendly. The Society has such a strong mutual history and members really do come first. I’m glad that this opportunity will allow me to be part of the next chapter.

“Being on the board of such a forward-thinking and aspirational organisation will be a pleasure. It would seem that my fellow members of the board share my interest in innovation and continual improvement, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

Over the past 25 years, Neil has developed his professional experience across multiple sectors such as media, retail, and consumer goods. He specialises in customer and technology-led change and has been instrumental in the digital transformation of several businesses.

Neil comments: “It’s an exciting time to be part of Shepherds Friendly; there is a real focus on constant enhancements to the member experience, and also a lot in the pipeline from a sustainability standpoint. I’m also really pleased to be joining an organisation with mutual values and where members come first.”

“It’s a privilege to be part of such a progressive board and to work alongside the ambitious Executive and wider teams. From what I’ve seen so far, I can already tell that everyone who works at the Society genuinely cares about what they do."

Ann-Marie O’Dea, Chief Executive Officer, adds: “We are pleased to welcome Alison and Neil to our board. Any new non-executive directors we appoint to our board are selected carefully based on their values, experience and how they will fit into our culture here at Shepherds Friendly. Together, Alison and Neil bring with them a wealth of knowledge and clearly share our passion for putting members first. I’m certain they will be welcome additions to our team and we’re glad that they have chosen to be part of our Society.”
