"It’s great to see employers targeting support precisely where it is needed, this analytical approach to health & wellbeing can be very successful."
- Debra Clark, Head of Wellbeing at Towergate Employee Benefits

Of those surveyed (500), 62% of employers confirmed that they intend to increase their focus on supporting health & wellbeing in the workplace over the next twelve months. Notably, 58% will focus on tailored support, with 52% catering towards age whilst 52% will focus on gender-specific support for employees.

Towergate Employee Benefits highlighted that workplaces are typically diverse in terms of employee expectations, so to meet these requirements, employers face a “growing need” to offer targeted support to specific groups and/or individuals.

In terms of communicating health & wellbeing benefits efficiently, Towergate suggests surveys or carrying out health risk assessments for employees, whether that’s a questionnaire or medical assessment.

“It’s great to see employers targeting support precisely where it is needed, this analytical approach to health & wellbeing can be a very successful way to ensure support benefits both the workforce and the business,” explained Debra Clark, Head of Wellbeing at Towergate Employee Benefits.

She said: “The challenge now is for employers to ensure they have the best possible understanding of what their employees need, so that support can be directed to the greatest effect.

“It’s great that so many employers are looking to increase their focus on health & wellbeing this year but with so many possibilities in terms of what support is available, employers need to take time to understand their workforce so that they can determine where support will be most effectual and valued,” Debra concluded.
