The Women in Protection Network is entering its next chapter with the appointment of a new executive team.
The Network exists to promote gender diversity and inclusion within the protection industry, ensuring that both employees and consumers are represented and served fairly. Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, the network strives to create a more equitable market and amplify voices that have historically been underrepresented.
After years of dedicated service, Catherine Trimble, Shelli Bentley, and Stephanie Hydon are stepping down from their roles on the executive team.
The new team brings together expertise from across the industry, with skills spanning marketing, sales, underwriting, claims, customer service, education, and inclusivity advocacy.
The new executive team includes Claire Nolan (Swiss Re), Caroline Payne (Shepherds Friendly), Emma Holmes (Aviva), Georgia Perkins (Legal & General), Hanna McKallip (Beagle Street), Joanne Legg (Royal London), Jordan Clark (Legal & General), Rachel Eason-Whale (London & Country), Rupinder Bahra (MetLife,) and Shelley Walker (The Exeter).
Catherine Trimble, head of intermediary distribution at Scottish Widows, commented: "I’m incredibly proud of what this network has achieved over the last eight years. The industry support has been phenomenal, with friendships being formed for life, but it’s time for a new chapter. Fresh thinking and perspectives will allow this network to evolve, as we continue on our quest to help underserved markets and push for even greater inclusion and diversity. Whilst I’m stepping down from the executive team, I’ll continue to support the new team and look forward to seeing what they’ll be achieving into 2026."
Emma Thomson (pictured), founder and chair of the Women in Protection Network, said: "This is an incredibly exciting time for the network. We have grown and adapted to meet the needs of an ever-changing industry, and I’m thrilled to welcome 10 committed women to the executive team. Catherine, Shelli, and Stephanie have made an outstanding contribution over the years, their passion and dedication have helped shape the network into what it is today. It’s been a joy to work with them and whilst we began as colleagues, we have become friends which is one of the benefits of the Network; meeting and working alongside some amazing people. With a larger team, we can build on what we’ve already created and have greater capacity to make even more of an impact, driving meaningful change and ensuring our mission resonates across the industry."
Claire Nolan, head of claims and underwriting at Swiss Re, added: "Stepping up at this time of change is exciting, and I speak on behalf of my fellow execs when I say we’re passionate about making a difference and driving change. Our focus is on amplifying the network’s impact, and we’re excited to share plans for enhanced activity, including the Women in Protection Conference on 30th April – a key event that will showcase our commitment to progress."
