Prior to this appointment, Glyn Hughes served as director of underwriting & pricing at Ageas UK. In the past, he has also worked as head of personal lines pricing & planning at Groupama.

Subject to regulatory approval, Glyn will join Allianz UK’s personal lines leadership team in February 2026.

This hire demonstrates the insurer’s continued investment in its broker business, which is a key component of its multi-product, multi-channel strategy.

Graham Wright will continue to lead the personal broker team on an interim basis.

“I’m delighted to be joining Allianz UK. I’m hugely impressed by the company and their ambitious growth plans and looking forward to leading the personal broker business,” he said.

Serge Raffard, managing director for personal lines at Allianz UK, added: “With a wealth of experience and excellent team leadership skills, Glyn is well placed to grow our broker business profitably. His commitment to innovation aligns perfectly with Allianz’s values.

“Brokers are at the heart of our strategy and Glyn’s market relationships and understanding of the personal lines broker market will help us increase our market presence.”

Earlier this year, Allianz UK expanded its insurance distribution footprint through a new strategic partnership with Sainsbury’s Bank, offering replacement home and motor insurance policies to the bank’s existing customers.
