He said: “I’m thrilled to take on the role of chair at such a pivotal moment for financial mutuals. The government’s ambition to double the size of the sector presents a unique opportunity to champion the values that set mutuals apart – putting members first, delivering long-term value, and delivering exceptional service.
“Along with the rest of the board, I want to take this opportunity to thank Ann-Marie for the great contribution she has made to the AFM over the years. I look forward to working with colleagues across the sector to seize this moment and help mutuals thrive.”
Sophia Reed, mutual manager at Activities Industry Mutual and the Fire & Rescue Indemnity Company, has also been appointed as vice chair of the board.
“As a representative of smaller mutuals, I’m particularly passionate about ensuring that the voices of all AFM’s members are heard and valued.
“I look forward to working closely with the rest of the board and our members to support the continued growth and resilience of financial mutuals across the UK,” she added.
