The tool uses generative AI to analyse and summarise GP medical reports, helping underwriters make faster and better informed decisions while maintaining accuracy and customer care.
Aviva will begin rolling the tool out to its underwriting teams from 28 November and expects to be the first insurer to bring this type of technology to market.
The tool condenses lengthy GP reports, which can sometimes exceed 90 pages, into clear summaries that highlight the most important information and remove irrelevant detail. Underwriters will continue to review the summaries and make the final decisions, reducing processing time significantly.
The system has undergone eighteen months of testing and controls. It has already processed 1,000 cases during an active testing phase, with results showing substantial improvements in turnaround times.
