4. iPipeline launch ‘Advanced Underwriting’ feature on SolutionBuilder to “fundamentally change how quotes translate into final terms” for protection products
iPipeline launched its Advanced Underwriting feature on SolutionBuilder during the year, positioning it as a response to long standing adviser frustrations around the gap between initial protection quotes and final underwriting terms. Developed in collaboration with The Openwork Partnership, the tool was designed to make the quote to application journey more predictable by capturing key medical information at an earlier stage, allowing advisers to give clients greater clarity and confidence from the outset.
The feature assessed the 20 most common medical disclosures, which iPipeline said typically accounted for up to 80% of post application changes to premiums or terms. By using this data upfront, Advanced Underwriting aimed to deliver more accurate premiums and indicative underwriting decisions, reducing delays, uncertainty and the risk of clients withdrawing when final terms differed from initial expectations. Providers including The Exeter, Vitality and Zurich Insurance supported the feature at launch, with further insurers expected to follow.
